Educational Qualification – Branch-wise

The minimum educational requirement for most branches is a BE/B.Tech degree with minimum 60% marks in the relevant discipline. Here is a branch-wise summary of qualification requirements:

  • Executive Branch (GS(X)/Hydro): BE/B.Tech in any discipline with minimum 60% marks.
  • Pilot: BE/B.Tech in any discipline with minimum 60% marks. Candidates must have 60% aggregate in Class X and XII and minimum 60% marks in English in Class X or Class XII.
  • Naval Air Operations Officer (Observers): BE/B.Tech in any discipline with minimum 60% marks; 60% aggregate in Class X and XII and minimum 60% marks in English in Class X or Class XII.
  • Air Traffic Controller (ATC): Same as Pilot / Observers entry.
  • Logistics: (a) BE/B.Tech in any discipline with First Class; OR (b) MBA with First Class; OR (c) B.Sc/B.Com/B.Sc (IT) with First Class along with PG Diploma in Finance/Logistics/Supply Chain Management/Material Management; OR (d) MCA/M.Sc (IT) with First Class.
  • Naval Armament Inspectorate Cadre (NAIC): BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks in streams including Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics, Micro Electronics, Industrial Production, Instrumentation & Control, Electronics & Communication, Industrial Engineering, Aero Space, Control Engineering, Information Technology, Production, Instrumentation, Applied Electronics & Instrumentation, Electronics & Tele Communication, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Application, Metallurgy, Metallurgical, Chemical, Material Science; OR Post Graduate degree in Electronics/Physics. Candidates must have 60% aggregate marks in Class X and XII and minimum 60% marks in English in Class X or Class XII.
  • Education: Multiple streams accepted including MSc/MA in Maths/Operational Research/Physics/Applied Physics/Meteorology/Oceanography/Atmospheric Sciences, MA (History) with min 55%, BE/B.Tech in Mechanical/Production/Electrical/Electronics/Communication/Electronics and Instrumentation, ME/M.Tech in Electronics/Communication/Controls/Radar/Microwave/Optical Fibre Communication/Digital Signal Processing/VLSI etc., ME/M.Tech in Thermal/Production/Machine Design/Mechatronics/Meteorology/Oceanography/Atmospheric Sciences (with Physics and Maths at graduation). Minimum 60% marks in Class X, XII, and minimum 60% marks in English in Class X or XII.
  • Engineering Branch (GS): BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks in Marine Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering & Management, Aero Space Engineering, Automobiles Engineering, Control Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, Metallurgy Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical/Mechanical with Automation.
  • Submarine Tech Engineering: Same as Engineering Branch (GS).
  • Electrical Branch (GS): BE/B.Tech with minimum 60% marks in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Tele Communication, Applied Electronics & Instrumentation, Instrumentation, Tele Communication, Electronics & Communication, Power Electronics, Power Engineering, Instrumentation & Control, Electronics & Instrumentation, Applied Electronics and Communication (AEC).
  • Submarine Tech Electrical: Same as Electrical Branch (GS).

Selection Process

The Indian Navy SSC Officer selection process Consists of following tiers:

Candidates who passed the academic performance test will be called for the Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview. Final selection will depend on SSB performance, medical fitness, and merit ranking.
